Getting Back to SEO Basics

Sometimes when you keep hearing something over and over again, it is time to pay attention. And one thing that we have been hearing about a lot lately is the need to get back to basics.

As far as website optimization is concerned, this does not mean going backwards, but it does mean that before investing a lot of time and energy into the latest social media craze, you need to be sure you have laid the groundwork for an effective search engine optimization campaign.

The SEO landscape is always growing and evolving, but hopping on the latest bandwagon may prove ineffective if you do not have the basics in place.

Is your website all text? Do you have any videos or audio components like podcasts on your website?

Do you research the keywords that will draw the most people to your website?

Have you incorporated these keywords into the text meta tags and image descriptions on your website?

Do you use pay per click advertising? Does your pay per click advertising program include negative keywords?

Are your reciprocal links up to date? Do you have any links to your site?

Have you submitted your website to relevant online directories?

These are just some of the questions you should ask yourself, especially if you are not satisfied with the kind of web traffic you get. (And if you have no way to measure your website traffic, then you have no way of knowing.)

If this sounds overwhelming, Increase Visibility can help. We offer SEO plans and can customize a plan specifically for you. Keeping a website up to date and making sure that it gets noticed by search engines and internet users takes time and effort, but it is well worth it. Get help with this if you cannot keep up with it on your own.
