Increase Your International Visibility -Jim Lisi

Over the years, the internet has been identified by many names. While some terms like “information superhighway” have fallen out of favor, “internet” and “world wide web” have had staying power.

This may seem very elementary, but one of the reasons it is called the “world wide web” is that you can use it to reach people all over the world, but sometimes we forget that. Depending on your company’s mission and goals, you many want to do more to reach an international audience. As long as you are prepared to handle international sales or delivery to foreign destinations, why not try to court business from other countries? You don’t have to limit your search engine marketing efforts to your own country. Two simple things you can do are-

Reach out to companies in other countries. If you want to increase your online visibility, you have to go beyond your borders. Research leading organizations in other countries and visit their websites, leave comments on their blogs and online forums and try to establish a connection. Increase link popularity by asking for a link exchange. Or interview someone from a company that relates to yours (but does not compete with you) and post the interview on your blog.

Add a text translator to your website. While it is true that online text translating tools are not perfect, including one on your site is a welcoming gesture to website visitors that use other languages. You really never know who may stumble upon your website, use a text translator to learn a little more and later patronize your business.

Expanding your reach to a worldwide audience not only expands your customer base, and boosts SEO, it can also be a asset to business within your own country. Being able to point to your international connections and success is impressive.
